Microsoft on Tuesday set the stage for a future in which long-distance cooks can collaborate as if in the same room, using augmented reality glasses and the power of cloud computing.
US technology colossus launched the Microsoft Mesh platform at their annual conference for Ignite developers, which was a streaming event this year due to the pandemic.
“One of the easiest ways to think about it is that Microsoft Mesh connects the physical and digital worlds, allowing us to transcend the traditional boundaries of space and time,” co-creator Simon Skaria said in a video presentation .
Microsoft technician Alex Kipman, creator of the HoloLens team, has developed an improved eye-catcher that has gripped businesses, like a hologram to showcase Mesh on a virtual platform.
Mesh is powered by Azure cloud computing systems that combine the processing power of data centers with artificial intelligence.
The Holohedrons headset with a $ 3,500 price tag (around Rs. 2.5 lakhs) is used to cover digital images over real-world scenarios, but the Mesh platform has the potential to be integrated to a virtual reality gear such as Oculus that owns Facebook as well as smartphones, according to Kipman.
Apple, Google, and Facebook are among the tech titans investing in mixed reality.
Mesh is designed to allow people to collaborate and share holographic experiences in real time no matter how far apart they are, demonstrations showed.
“You can actually feel like you’re in the same place with someone sharing content or you can teleport from different mixed reality devices and be present with people even when you’re not physically together,” Kipman said. .
Initially people will be able to appear in Mesh experiences as avatars, but in the future they will be able to design lifelike holograms of their own, according to Microsoft.
The pandemic caused a major shift to working and distance learning, with reliance on cloud computing rather than offices or classrooms with the intention of staying a part of people’s lives.
Washington-based company Redmond expects developers and external partners to build applications on Mesh, and is working to integrate into products such as a collaborative service significant Teams.
Niantic boss John Hanke took part in an Ignite show with a concept version of the popular mobile game Pokémon Go running on HoloLens.
“This idea of taking my friends with me as I go out and walk and explore the world is a great idea – I really like that idea and I’m interested I really want to see what we can do with that, “Hanke said.
