Microsoft Documentation confirms the interesting features of Surface Pro 8

Prior to its launch later this month, some of the key features of Microsoft’s Surface Pro 8 were tested in South Korea.

Details can be found in Microsoft’s application to qualify for the 4G LTE enabled computer in the country. The Windows team Latest reports:

“If the certification is true, the rumored Microsoft Surface Pro 8 LTE is now proven for the US, European and other markets. The new LTE option is only for those who need it, which means that you can still purchase the non – LTE variant. According to product listings, the LTE option will be limited to Core i5 and Core i7 models only. “

That detail matches previous leaks on the European package and includes a cellular data connection to the powered Windows 10 2-in-1, the first from 2017’s Surface Pro.

Firmly speaking that was not the last Pro that came with a cellular connection. All models of the Surface Pro X ships will be ARM-powered with 4G LTE, a natural choice as the ARM architecture is suitable for installing a hardware modem with much easier than x86 architecture.

Nonetheless the Pro X is still very much on the edge of the Surface range. The Surface Pro 8 has a wider application. Not everyone is going to want the extra cost of 4G LTE in the base module, but there will be a subset of the user base that gets the convenience of communication mobile directly from their device as a key feature.

With access to the 4G LTE module for both the i5 and i7 versions, Microsoft has created a higher level of the Pro 8. The i3 module is also expected to provide an entry level version of the workhorse table. With these three broad sweeps, Microsoft will be looking to expand the Pro 8 into three different demographics.

The Surface Pro 8 is expected to launch in early 2021.
