Microsoft CEO to join SoftBank Vision Fund

SoftBank Group Corp. Vision Fund. hires venture capital business leader Microsoft Corp. as a managing partner, the first major addition to the investment arm after several rounds.

Nagraj Kashyap, Microsoft’s global head of M12 assets, will join the Vision Fund in the U.S., according to a statement from SoftBank. Bloomberg announced the move earlier Monday.

The Vision Fund has recently seen a number of changes among its senior executives after making many employers after its inauguration in 2017. Managing partner Colin Fan is leaving his role as advisor to SoftBank Investment Advisors and Jeff Housenbold, the managing partner involved in betting on startups including DoorDash Inc. and Wag dog walking app, also going.

SoftBank Vision Fund Chief Operating Officer Ruwan Weerasekera and Penny Bodle, a partner in charge of investment relations, left late last year.

Kashyap was previously head of operations at Qualcomm Inc. before joining Microsoft in 2016. M12 focuses on investments in corporate software companies, targeting areas such as implemented artificial intelligence and infrastructure.
