Meghan Markle’s complaint on ITV against Piers Morgan

Representatives for Meghan Markle have lodged a complaint with ITV on behalf of the Duchess of Sussex days after Piers Morgan, a host of Good Morning Britain, questioned the veracity of the comments made at Oprah Winfrey’s explosive interview Sunday night. This is according to British newspapers including The Guardian and The Telegraph.

On Monday’s episode of Good Morning Britain, Morgan tasted Markle for opening up to Winfrey about her mental health, as The Duchess said she “didn’t want to live anymore. ”

“I don’t believe a word she says, Meghan Markle,” Morgan said. “I wouldn’t believe it if she read me a weather report and with the fact that she fired up this attack against our royal family, I think it’s a disgrace. ”

Morgan’s intelligent remarks drew a swift rebound that led to more than 41,000 complaints to UK media regulator Ofcom.

The next day, GMB weather presenter Alex Beresford brought Morgan to work for his relentless attacks on Markle, with whom he was constantly interacting.

“I understand you have a personal relationship with Meghan Markle or you had one and she cut you off. She deserves to be cut off if she wants to. Has she said anything about you since she cut you? I don’t think so, but nonetheless you still waste it. ”

The exchange made Morgan walk away from the set saying, “Okay, I’m done with this, sorry, no, sorry … I’ll see you later, sorry, I can’t to do this. ” It was later confirmed that the 55-year-old would not return to the morning program he has hosted since 2015.

In a statement, the UK broadcaster said,

“Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has now decided that this is Good Morning Britain. ITV has accepted this decision and there is nothing further to add. ”

On Wednesday, Morgan stood behind his comments, tweeting, “On Monday, I said I didn’t believe Meghan Markle in her interview with Oprah. I have time to think about this idea, and I still haven’t. If you did, okay. Freedom of speech is a hill. I’m happy to die for it. Thanks for all the love, and hate. I am off to spend more time with my thoughts. “

Morgan also commented on his departure from the morning show from outside his home in London. “I had a good conversation with ITV and we agreed to agree. “

“I believe in freedom of speech, I believe in the right to have an opinion. If people want to believe Meghan Markle, that’s totally right for them. I don’t believe almost anything that comes out of her mouth and I think the damage she has done to the British monarchy and to the Queen at a time when Prince Philip is in hospital is huge and If I have to drop my sword to express an honest opinion about Meghan Markle and that diatribe of bilge she came up with in that interview, so be it.

“I think it’s fair to say that although the people who have woken up think they have put me off, I think they will be a little disappointed when I come back. ”
