‘Martinelli’s injury blow would have been broken’ – Campbell was delighted to hear of Arsenal’s renewal

The former Gunner is pleased to hear that no other obstacle Brazil has suffered is as bad as initially thought.

Being pushed back on the sidelines by Gabriel Martinelli for a long time would have been “heartbreaking”, said Kevin Campbell, with the former Arsenal striker relieved to hear that the latest crack in Brazil is not as bad as fear was at first.

The talented 19-year-old broke just four games in when he returned to the Gunners’ return from a long-term knee injury.

Martinelli was taken out of a meeting with Newcastle after turning an ankle in the warm-up, with Mikel Arteta later admitting he did not expect good news.

Arsenal, however, have offered an encouraging update on their progress in South America, says in a post on the club’s website official website: “Gabi turned his right finger in warm-up against Newcastle United on Saturday and was taken off the starting line.

“Gabi has progressed well and we hope he will return to full squad training in the next few days.”

Campbell has welcomed that assessment, with the former Gunners fighter as relieved as Martinelli that he will not be placed on the handling table for so long.

He said Football Football: “I was not sure what it was.

“He has been out for so long that you are most terrified of an injury.

“It has been rumored that he will be back in training this week so it doesn’t look that bad. It is good news for the football club, good news for him and relief for him.

“He put in so much work to get himself back, and he was so good against Chelsea, and he would be hurt again on his heartbreak. I’m really happy. ”

Martinelli, who hit 10 goals during his debating campaign at the Emirates Stadium in 2019-20, missed nine months of football due to a coronavirus lockout and a serious knee injury that was picked up during training in June.

He has been told Daily mail of a long way to get past it: “I was about to get the ball and I was feeling a little pain in my knee.

“It wasn’t enough for me to stop working, but, while we were in the finishing session, I told them I was in pain. They told me to relax and, if I felt the pain the next day, let them know.

“When I woke up, I felt but I could walk. I thought it was nothing at first, but it was a pain I had never felt before. I went to the club for the exams and they said it wasn’t good and I needed surgery. It broke me. I shouted a lot. ”
