Marion Ramsey, who starred as Office Laverne Hooks in the Police Academy franchise, has died.
The date reports that Ramsey’s death at the age of 73 was announced by her management team. Although the cause of death has not yet been announced, they noted that she had recently been ill.
Born on May 10, 1947, Ramsey began his career on stage, appearing in the original Broadway production company and the national tour of the famous music. Hello, Dolly! She was later in the ensemble of the Tony Award nominated for 1978 Eubie!, a review of the songs of the famous composer Eubie Blake. Meanwhile she had a star-studded spot opposite Bette Davis in Mrs. Moffatt, although the famous show was closing at the time of its out-of-town audition, and was on a program of The Jeffersons.
Ramsey, however, came up with more details with her 1984 portrait of Officer Hooks Police Academy, where an unlikely group of unsuitable cadets undergo training to become city law enforcement officers. She played the Hooks calmly, sensitively, and her loud voice would turn into a loud shout when she needed to assert authority. Ramsey appeared in his annual series up through 1989 Police Academy 6: City Under Siege.
