Manor Solomon is expected to open in Shakhtar against Roma

Beginning of an article

After the rejections of Maccabi Tel Aviv, PSV Eindhoven (of Eran Zehavi), Hoffenheim (of Moanes Dabour) and Antwerp (of Lior Rapalov), there is only one more Israeli representative left in the 2020/21 Europa League, and that is Manor Solomon. His team Shekhtar Donetsk will meet Rome tomorrow (Thursday, 22:00) in the round of 16 at the “Olimpico” for a battle not easy at all.

According to the Italian media, Solomon is expected to start in the Ukrainian squad in a match against his former coach, Paolo Fonseca. This is not particularly surprising given the fact that the midfielder has become a key screw in the team, and also because he was rested in the last league game and partnered for just 10 minutes in a 0-1 win over Olympics in the Donetsk derby.

Professionally, Luis Castro will be missing Maxim Malishev and the injured Terras Stefanenko, with Dantinio also in doubt. On the other side will be a missing roster with quite a few injured, including Niccolò Zaniolu, Jordan Verto and Edin Dzeko.

The balance between the two teams stands at 2: 4 for the Ukrainians, with six meetings in the Champions League – twice in the home stage of 2006/07, twice in the quarterfinals of 2010/11 and twice in the quarterfinals of 2017/18.
