Man arrested in Hollywood Boulevard murder

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – A man was arrested in the early morning shooting death of another man who happened last month near restaurants and stores in the Hollywood shopping district.

Brandon Preston, 35, will face a charge of rape with a firearm after he was arrested Tuesday night, Hollywood Police say.

The killings happened at around 4am on December. 23 in the 1900 block of Hollywood Boulelvard, investigators said.

The victim was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital, where he died.

Police say they believe Preston acted alone in the killing.

The crime scene was next to Hollywood Boulevard at South 19th Avenue, near Young Circle Park. A broken watch, a blood tank and a shell cover were visible on the ground later that morning, along with a beer bottle in the front door of an empty store.

The shooting shocked workers in that area of ​​the Hollywood city, who said they saw some late-night fights but not fired guns.

Preston is being held at Broward Prison.
