Despite multiple chances, the Golden State Warriors have yet to record a three-game win streak in the 2020-21 season. After battling back from a 17-point lead Wednesday night in Orlando, the Warriors looked on their way to consolidating their unprecedented three-game win streak.
However, as the Orlando Magic filed back into the game late on, Golden State’s offense went cold in the fourth quarter. After a pair of ugly turns with a pair of 3-points from Cuma Okeke and Terrance Ross, the Warriors took the lead to fall behind against Orlando with seven points with a minute left.
While Steph Curry was able to cut into Orlando ‘s win with three heroic backs, the most valuable player twice missed the play with 3.5 seconds left to seal Orlando’s 13 points, 124-120, to seal it.
The Warriors will have a chance to move past their opposing loss in Orlando with the second half of Saturday’s backup against the Charlotte Hornets.
Second and third quarter streaks
After finishing with as many as 15 points in the first quarter, the Golden State Warriors went on to start the second quarter just slowing down by three points. However, the Warriors failed to take advantage.
Following back and forth, Nikola Vucevic and Evan Fournier led the Magic to a 13-point lead going into halftime. Vucevic and Fournier came together to outscore the Golden State squad with 19 points in the second quarter. While Orlando got hot, Golden State went ice cold, firing 7-of-21 from the field in the second period.
After a rough 12 minutes before halftime, the third quarter was a completely different story. Despite Orlando extending the lead to 17 points to start the quarter, the Warriors moved the turnout.
With Steph Curry, Andrew Wiggins and Kelly Oubre Jr. each scoring in double figures, the Warriors recorded the top quarter of the season with 43 points in the third. With a 3-point lead from Draymond Green to end the quarter, the Warriors stole the lead back from Orlando, 94-93 entering the final period of the tournament at the Amway Center.
Duo Orlando
Helping lead Orlando, Nikola Vucevic and Evan Fournier fired the Warriors for 58 points combined. While Fournier picked up 28 points on an 11-of-18 shooting, Vucevic recorded a monster triple effort. The USC result hit 30 high points on a 13-of-23 shooting from the field with 16 boards and 10 assists in 39 minutes.

After a notoriously slow start to the season, Kelly Oubre Jr. has hit a good series of games in February. Against Orlando, Oubre Jr. followed. forward with his steady climb. The Golden State shield came to 26 points on a 10-of-18 shooting from the field with seven boards, four directions and an assist in 37 minutes. Tha Oubre Jr. has found rhythm with his jumper, hitting three times on six attempts against the Magic.
To get even on the road trip in Charlotte, the Warriors must follow Oubre Jr. as a fertile scoring recommendation for Steph Curry.
