MAFS: Dan Webb is facing trial accused of fraud over telemarketing scam accused

Daniel Webb, who starred in Married At First Sight, went to court on Monday over his involvement in a complex phone scam.

The 36-year-old and 10 others have been charged with fraud, some of whom are also charged with money laundering.

Webb is said to have been part of a cold call scheme in 2013 that forced people to invest in a ‘boiler room scam’.

The reality TV star appeared in Brisbane Magistrates’ Court on Monday, accused of aggravated fraud.

Prosecutors will argue the scam is said to have been caught in about $ 24million.

Webb became famous for Channel Nine’s Married At First Sight date show in 2019. It was unsuccessful in partnership with Tamara Joy.

During the test, he had a relationship with co-star Jessika Power.

Controversially he and Power were allowed to re-enter the trial as a new couple after their secret was revealed at a pledge ceremony.

But things did not stand, and suddenly broke up at a live episode of Talking Married, which began immediately after the final of the Married At First Sight in April 2019.

After the show ended, Webb said he was ‘heard’ by angry spectators on the street.

‘I could never go back to that show. I would have heard. I get heckled on the street enough as it is, think of going back in there again! he told the Australian Daily Mail.

But Webb asked him to go ahead with Power, 29, to really make for a good TV show, even though it didn’t win them many fans.
