Danielle Kang conducts a two-picture lead at the Diamond Resorts Tournament
Danielle Kang continued her soft week without a move to move into a two-way half-way level lead in the Diamond Championship Tournament.
Kang followed opener 64 with 65 unopposed on another day with a low score at Orlando’s Four Seasons Golf and Sports Club, posting six birdies in her second round to get to 13 under.
The closest challenge in the world at No. 5 comes from Nelly Korda, who made a five-under-66 card on Friday, with defensive champion Gaby Lopez two more blows back in a third tie with In Gee Chun.
“I had a lot of fun outdoors today and made some good birdies,” Kang said. This golf course is a bit tricky at the same time, so I can’t lose focus on some pictures. There are three putts out there too, which is scary. “
Starting the day with a one-shot lead, Kang grabbed the first and fourth before pursuing goal gains from the ninth by picking up a bullet at 16th and taking advantage of the 17th par-five.
Korda was level after seven holes but grabbed the eighth and four more wins over the back nine, while her older sister Jessica Korda was also within two of the lead until she finished her second round of 69 with three consecutive bogs to fall back to fifth place.
