Arling Holland, A legend in the making, scored another double for Sevilla’s net – did the same in a game in Spain – and became the first player in Champions League history to score a double in four consecutive games. He also reached 20 goals in total in just 14 appearances at the prestigious factory in Europe – the fastest to reach such a number of goals.
Holland, we have already learned to recognize, is a star not only on the lawn but also in the interview stand. At the end of the game, having of course been selected as an outstanding player, he recounted a particular confrontation he had with Sevilla goalkeeper Bono, and provided an answer to the Pantheon.
“He yelled at me something after he stopped the pendulum and I thought to myself, ‘Wow, I hope I score you one more time.’ And I did. Then I told him what he had told me earlier. I have no idea what that means,” said the Norwegian wonder. On the game itself he added: “Crazy game, crazy win. I’m tired now, but it feels good to step up.”
Even in Sevilla, naturally, they did not remain indifferent to the great abilities of the Dortmund striker. “The Netherlands are an exceptional player. He is making a difference and he is about to set a period in football,” the losing coach complimented, Julen Luftaghi. “He has proved once again that all the things said about him are true,” he added Lucas Ocampus.
Alongside the compliments for the goal machine from Norway, Luftaghi also came up with complaints to the refereeing team: “I was told there was a case where Holland punched Munir … Too bad it wasn’t tested on VAR like Dortmund’s penalty.” In this case, Ocampus did not align himself with his coach: “Talk about refereeing will not serve anyone now that the game is over.”
