A new campaign is underway and today (Thursday) Israel national team coach Willy Rotensteiner announced his squad for the three games that will open the journey in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. The first game waiting for the team will be in Bloomfield against Denmark exactly a week (March 25), three days later a game against Scotland (28.3, Bloomfield), and three more days later, the team will play in Moldova (31.3) before the players return to their teams and meet again only in September.
In Rotensteiner’s squad, of course, quite predictable summonses when the big stars of the previous campaign were summoned this time as well, such as Eran Zehavi, Mons Dabour, Manor Solomon, Eli Desa, Nir Bitton and of course Captain Beavers Natcho. Also in defense there are the expected names like goalkeeper Ophir Marciano, Eitan Tibi and Hatem Abdelhamid. The main question was what would happen to Lior Rapalov, the winner of the Belgian golden shoe who is in great shape, and the answer – he did not enter the summons of the Austrian coach again.
In terms of the stars of the Premier League this season, Rotensteiner went with the link players of Maccabi Tel Aviv and summoned Dor Peretz and Eyal Golsa from Maccabi Tel Aviv, while Neta Lavi and Muhammad Abu Fani from Maccabi Haifa were also called up. The surprises came with the debut summons of the Maccabi Petah Tikva stopper Or Balorian and the young striker Liel Abda, while also Muhammad Canaan from MS. Ashdod received a premiere summons.
