Oded Katash will soon be announced as the coach of Panathinaikos, and wants to build a professional team around him as he sees fit: recently he turned to Lior Lubin and offered him to be the assistant coach at the Greek luxury club.
Advanced negotiations are currently underway between the parties, and the transition may be completed in the coming days. Lubin, who has been successfully coaching Hapoel Gilboa / Galil for the past season and a half, has signed until the end of the season – with Chaim Ohayon and Gilboa / Galil expected to give the green light to the move.
The warm relationship between Katsch and Lubin began many years ago, when Lubin’s first position, as an assistant coach, was under Katsch at Gilboa / Galil – a position he held for two years and was also a partner in the historic championship in 2010.
If and when he chooses Lubin to leave Gan Ner, he will coach for the first time in his career outside Israel. Gilboa / Galil, of course, will have to find a quick solution and appoint a coach who will step into the big shoes that Yuvin will leave behind.
