YA Lionsgate sci-fi adventure Walking chaos will be released in theaters nationwide and in IMAX on March 5, 2021, pushing back from the previous date of January 22nd. The move comes as distributors begin to change the Q1 calendar in response to the ongoing pandemic, which they hope to inquire before spring with the good news about the vaccine.
Tom Holland-Daisy Ridley’s $ 100M feature has been delayed several times, one of his major delays due to $ 15M replacements in mid-2018. However, Ridley’s record on the Star Wars movies and Holland’s Spider-Man and Avengers press those reshoots. In May 2019 it was reported that Do not breathe director Fede Alvarez assisted with these reshoots in Atlanta while Liman remained on board. The feature was first opened on March 1, 2019.
Directed by Doug Liman, the screenplay is by Patrick Ness and Christopher Ford, based on the book The knife without releasing by Patrick Ness. The film is produced by Doug Davison, Allison Shearmur, Erwin Stoff, and Alison Winter.
Walking chaos set in the not-so-distant future, following Todd Hewitt (Holland) and discovering Viola, a girl (Ridley) who secretly crashes on land on the his planet. Surprisingly, the land is completely empty of women, while “the sounds” affect the men – a force that displays all their thoughts. As Todd vows to protect Viola from harm, he discovers his inner abilities and discovers the dark mysteries of his planet.
The team also includes Nick Jonas, Cynthia Erivo, Mads Mikkelsen and Demian Bichir.
