Lionel Messi played his 767th game for the club, equaling Xavi’s record.
He marked the event with two incredible goals and a very emotional achievement through the 4-1 victory. His 660th and 661st goals were a stunning Camp Nou career.
His first came after 13 minutes.
He found a spot on the edge of the penalty and shook a fine effort off the bottom of the bar. The ball kicked down, back up from the woodwork and into the back of the net. Very enjoyable in terms of enjoyment.
In the second half, Messi turned around as a provider for Oscar Mingueza scoring his first goal in Barcelona as he stepped in from the Argentine’s perfect cross.
And Messi brought the curtain down on a historic night with another pleasant strike.
The six-time winner cut a Ballon d’Or in on his left leg and dragged the ball into the bottom corner from 20 yards. Just too good.

They marked some of his stats both during the game and throughout his life.
Messi will break Xavi’s appearance record if he plays against Real Sociedad at the weekend.
But it remains to be seen just with the extent to which Messi will set the new appearance record.
His contract expires in the summer and it is not yet clear whether he will stay in Catalonia later this summer.
Whether he stays or not, he leaves the club’s record maker, a goalie and the greatest player in Barcelona’s history.
Even Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman admits they are still ‘lucky’ to have them.
“I can’t say more about Leo,” Koeman said at a news conference. “His level for a number of years, a lot of games. He is equal to Xavi and on Sunday in principle will surpass him. He is the most important man in the history of Barca. Luckily he is still with us.
“I think he has shown that he is the best player in the world. His first goal was very good, and he deserves to be at the heart of this team. The team is confident. We cannot lose any more points as we have already lost several. “
