The concept for phones with a screen that rolls into the body of the device is nothing new and a number of companies have already demonstrated feasibility capabilities in the subject, with LG itself playing with the idea for several years and presenting the first teaser for a screened device in September 2020. A rumor that surfaced back in 2019 also mentioned Sony’s name when it comes to developing a device with a scrolling screen. Sony has previously introduced more ambitious devices than those on the market, when they were among the first to offer a smartphone that supports water resistance standards and phones with 4K screens, but in the current state of the company’s phone division, it is not certain that concept devices will be in the forefront. Finally, there is Samsung, which has not revealed details about a device with a scrolling screen so far, but has certainly shown its capabilities in the field, with one example being a prototype for a scrolling screen that was introduced by the company back in 2016.
