Leon Edwards wants revenge against Jorge Masvidal

UFC welterweight rival Leon Edwards has confirmed he wants revenge on Jorge Masvidal.

At UFC Fight Night: Till vs. Masvidal back in 2019, Leon Edwards came out victorious against Gunnar Nelson in the main event, before Darren Till was brutally beaten by Masvidal in the main event. After the shop, the two men behind the stage interacted to end up in Jorge giving Leon an infamous “three pieces and soda”.

Leon Edwards’ anger

Ever since then, fans have been wondering if the pair will ever meet inside the octagon, but so far, the fight has never come to fruition.

Leon Edwards is currently preparing to fight against Belal Muhammad this weekend in a tournament he hopes will give him a shot at Kamaru Usman, the UFC weightlifting champion. Masvidal, on the other hand, is expected to return later this year to lead Usman himself in a rematch for the belt.

In an interview with RT Sport, Edwards made it clear that he did not forget about what Masvidal had done for him.

“100% [he has unfinished business with Masvidal]. I’ve been pushing for that Jorge fight since the incident happened. He turned me on, he made excuses, but his day will come. After this fight we look at Usman, obviously he was the last man to beat me so I would like to get that win back. But Jorge definitely happens, inside or outside the cage, you know. So that happens no matter what. ”

It’s important that Leon Edwards stays focused on the action at hand so he doesn’t get caught up this weekend. But at the same time, it’s good to see him making plans for the future, having been consistently criticized for not motivating himself enough.

Whether you think he has suffered from this or not, no one can deny how amazing the streak he won has been at 170 pounds.

Some fans think that the style matchup would not be very good for Jorge Masvidal, which is why he has not yet accepted Leon Edwards’ invitation to fight. Whatever happens, this is the kind of fight in which history fans can invest – which is always good news for the UFC.
