LOS ANGELES: “Orange is the New Black” star Laverne Cox and media mogul Shonda Rhimes are developing a weekly podcast show.
The actor will be hosting the series, entitled “The Laverne Cox Show”, which will feature “intimate” conversations with guests.
Produced by Rhimes’ Shondaland Audio and iHeartMedia, the show arrives in February.
The news comes hot on the heels of Cox’s throw in the Rhimes-limited Netflix series “Inventing Anna” about New York-based grifter Anna Delvey.
Cox said she is “thrilled” to expand her relationship with Shondaland by making her first podcast with the amazing team with iHeartRadio.
“I can’t wait for everyone to hear the incredibly interesting conversations I had with my guests,” said the Emmy winner.
Sandie Bailey, Shondaland’s Chief Planning and Digital Media Officer, said the team is thrilled to have “one-of-a-kind” talent like Cox on board.
“We are so pleased that our Shondaland audio division is enabling us to continue its relationship with it.
“We all know her on-screen talents and her role as a producer, but this show gives Laverne the opportunity to achieve something very personal. She clearly has an interest in engaging her audience and herself in ways she never did before. And we promise to support her in doing just that, “Bailey said.
