ZURICH (Reuters) -LafargeHolcim will buy Firestone Construction Products from Bridgestone Americas in a $ 3.4 billion deal, the world’s largest cement maker said Thursday.

Firestone Building Products, which is primarily involved in commercial peaks in the United States, had sales of about $ 1.8 billion and earnings before interest, depreciation and a depreciation of $ 270 million in 2020, LafargeHolcim said in a statement .

The move is a move away from LafargeHolcim’s recent strategy to focus on gradual construction. They said he would finance the deal with money and debts.

The business was part of Japan’s Bridgestone Corporation and will increase LafargeHolcim’s presence in the United States, bringing its annual sales there to $ 6 billion.

The Swiss company said it plans to expand its flat roof industry to Europe and South America.

“With Firestone Building Products we are strengthening our largest market, the U.S., while also building a global growth and innovation platform for the company,” said LafargeHolcim CEO Jan Jenisch.
