Labor Party members: “disqualify Mara’a”

Maozia Segal, a member of the Labor Party, an IDF invalid who was fatally wounded in the war of attrition in the Syrian enclave, submitted a petition to the Central Election Commission on behalf of dozens of Labor members disqualifying Abtissam Maraana, the No. 7 candidate on the Labor Party list. Maraana should be disqualified for her extremist stances, harsh statements against IDF soldiers and Holocaust survivors, and her support for terrorist acts.

The petition mentions outrageous statements by Mara’ana, including the publication on the “Israel Today” website from last Tuesday, which mentions her controversial posts. The petition states: “Mrs. Abtissam Maraana, number 7 on the Labor Party’s list for the 24th Knesset, has in recent years spoken out on several occasions, in public, against the existence of the State of Israel as a Jewish and democratic state, incited racism and even incited violence against terrorist organizations and operatives. State of Israel”.

Among the signatories to the petition for disqualification from Mara’a are former Minister Avraham Katz-Oz, former mayors and senior Labor activists. Maozia Segal told Israel Today after the petition was filed: “Anyone who opposes the existence of the State of Israel cannot represent the State of Israel in the Knesset. I have a family that was killed in the Holocaust and I have friends who were killed in the wars and I was seriously injured. Everything is done to preserve the State of Israel As a Jewish and democratic state, this woman stands up and tramples on everything that is sacred in Israeli culture. She protects people who carry out terrorism against the State of Israel, while living here, working and living in Israel. The State of Israel has laws, values and things that are sacred and important to the State of Israel “I think that anyone who tramples on the sacred values of the State of Israel in this way and supports terrorism cannot represent me in the Knesset, certainly not on behalf of the party to which I am affiliated.”

Labor Party member Maozia Segal

It will be recalled that Abtisam Maraana, who was elected in seventh place on the Labor Party’s list for the 24th Knesset, previously posted on her Facebook page extremist and controversial posts with outrageous statements. In November 2020, Maraana raised a post in support of Islamic Jihad operative and administrative detainee Maher al-Ahras, who had been starving for a long time. In another post in July 2020, Maraana wrote that: “Another young man from the Gaza ghetto committed suicide tonight. There is no hope for despair, the brutal occupation and the oppressive Hamas rule. ” In another outrageous post, written in December 2016, Maraana posted a picture of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on her Facebook page, along with a hanging rope. This is a poster that was placed at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem, caused a stir and led to the interrogation of the student who designed it for the police on suspicion of incitement.

Maraana wrote in this post: “I stand behind her and by the side of the student from Bezalel,” emphasizing that: “I do not know inciting art, I know inciting politicians.” Mara’a was not satisfied with these posts and near Memorial Day she posted a post in which she wrote: “Eli, I did not stand at the siren, I was driving while the whole country was almost silent. I decided to continue driving and those were 2 wonderful minutes during the siren. The road was empty, I kept thinking What really interested me at that moment. ” In another post in April 2013, Maraana wrote in the context of Holocaust Remembrance Day: “How did the Holocaust affect the sex lives of Holocaust survivors?”
