Philadelphia 76ers Basketball Works President Daryl Morey might be happy to see his new team sit first in the 31st Eastern Conference games into the 2020-2021 NBA season. However, anyone who knows the former Houston Rockets General Manager knows that there is little chance that he is satisfied with the current roster.
Morey said at the end of last month, it ‘s a competition or a bodybuilder for this year’ s Sixers. That means they have to get better and refresh before they press playoff. While the Sixers aren’t likely to go star-hunting after falling out with James Harden last month, The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor suggests the 76ers are still keeping an eye on one of the league’s most popular names in Kyle Lowry.
“League sources say Philadelphia, which came short in its bid for Harden, is still looking for big moves to increase its competition numbers,” O’Connor wrote Monday. “The trading market needs to remain in shape in the coming weeks, so targets aren’t reasonably clear. But one name to keep an eye on is Raptors’ point guard Kyle Lowry, a 34-year-old Philadelphia native in the last season of his contract. Veteran. The Sixers’ only real-life shooter is the creator of a bullet, and there aren’t many other Lowry-level players that are even theoretically available. “
For weeks now, Kyle Lowry has been tossed in countless hypothetical crafts around the net. As the Toronto Raptors struggled with a good idea, it was believed that they could eventually begin to realize that it was not their year and cut ties with a veteran who ‘get older on a contract year to get younger players and build a draft to build towards a new and improved future.
But now I’m not so sure that will be the case. After beating the Sixers by top seed while short on Sunday night, the Raptors improved their record to 16-15, climbing up to fifth seed in the Conference Conference. East. When rumors of Lowry’s trade began, the Raptors weren’t even in the playoff hunt. Now, they are a game out of the fourth seed and four games back from the Sixers.
The Toronto season is far from dead. While they may still move forward with the idea of trading Lowry to get value for it now before they could lose nothing through the free agency market in due course, there is a long chance better that the Raptors take one final shot with the 34-year-old suffrage cornerstone.
Will Morey continue to do his due diligence and look into getting Lowry for an inevitable playoff run? Of course. Are the chances of it happening high, though? Most likely not. A good GM and President will always keep an eye on the market no matter what, but the study is not the same as bargaining.
