Kushner reappears with op-ed on the Middle East

Kushner, one of the most omnipresent officials in the Trump administration whose wide-ranging responsibilities from Middle East peace to criminal justice reform, has maintained a low profile since leaving the White House, moving from Washington to Miami with his wife Ivanka Trump on Jan. 20

Earlier this month, CNN reported that while former President Donald Trump plans to return to politics from Mar-a-Lago, Kushner has tapped out, several people said who worked closely with him at the White House or who is familiar with CNN’s background thinking to maintain relationships.

Kushner was a key arbiter in the Abraham Accords, a historic peace treaty between the US, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain, signed in September 2020 at the White House, with Morocco and Sudan joining into the agreement. This agreement established political and economic ties for the first time in the history of the two countries.
In an op-ed Sunday, Kushner praised the openness of the Biden administration to diplomacy with Iran, which last month rejected an offer from the European Union to engage in nuclear talks with the U.S. and other signatories to the nuclear treaty. Biden has said the U.S. will not lift sanctions to get Iran back to the negotiating table, suggesting the measure would only happen if Tehran stops enriching uranium.

“The Biden administration, however, has assets that the Trump administration never had – a relationship with Iran.
