Kevin Durant named player of the week for the first time with the Nets

Kevin Durant has been named Player of the Week several times during his NBA career. However, until Monday, he was never named Conference Player of the Week – the 26 previous positions came while he was at Conference West.

But that all changed on Monday when the NBA announced that Durant was named Conference Player of the Week for games played from Monday, Jan. 11 to Sunday, Jan. 17. The 26th Nets player promotion is the licensing history of being named Eastern Conference Player of the Week – Spencer Dinwiddie was the last Brooklyn player to receive the honor, who did so in November of 2019.

Durant led the Nets to a 3-0 week with an average of 34 points, 8 assists, 5.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game. During the three-game expansion, Durant fired 61.3% from the floor and 60% from depth.

The Nets set off a season-high on Saturday, scoring 42 points in Brooklyn’s 122-115 win over the Orlando Magic.

Portland Trail Blazers defender Damian Lillard has been named Conference Player of the Week.
