Keeping an eye on snow and rain this weekend

DETROIT – We start our Friday with cloudy skies and just a few light lanterns around.

We should start to see some break in the clouds by late morning or early afternoon, and maybe even be partially cloudy for an hour or two.

Elevations should go back to the mid 30s (2 degrees Celsius) this afternoon, with the wind blowing south at 5 to 10 mph. As long as we get any evening sun, it should be a very enjoyable day.

Sunrise today at 7:55 am, and sunset today at 5:03 pm

The skies quickly become cloudy Friday night, with a low in the high 20s (-2 degrees Celsius). Southerly Winds at 7 to 12 mph.

Light snow develops on Saturday morning, followed by light rain and possible snow in the afternoon. Highs in the high 30s (3 to 4 degrees Celsius).

Light rain and attractive snow are possible Saturday night, with lows in the low to mid 30s (0 to 1 degree Celsius).

If you read my article yesterday, I considered a change to the Sunday forecast because the computer models are now taking a high-level concern from the southwest and gradually introducing it with the high-level anxiety associated with the weak cold front crossing the state.

Well, this morning’s models have returned to where they were two days ago, and are now keeping the two temptations separate. So the cold front seems to be again progressive (meaning to move steadily eastward, instead of slowing down and stopping), so I imagine that we will keep Sunday mostly dry, though cloudy, with highs again in the high 30s (4 degrees Celsius).

A moderate weather system is likely to provide another chance of light rain and snow on Monday, with altitudes nearly 40 degrees (5 degrees Celsius).

Partly Cloudy Tuesday, with peaks again approaching 40 degrees (5 degrees Celsius).

Partly cloudy on Festivus (Wednesday), and becoming windy. However, these winds blow from the south, which should raise temperatures into the mid-40s (7 degrees Celsius). Happy Festivus! Good luck with your strengths, and your complaints …

Rain showers improve Wednesday night, and then change to light snow overnight after going through a strong cold front. If the temperature drops fast enough and we get the northeast wind behind us, we’ll get some lake impact support from Lake Huron, which would increase our chances of getting enough coverage for a White Christmas. give us!

Christmas Eve and Christmas Eve itself are windy and cold, with temperatures staying at around 30 degrees (-1 degrees Celsius) throughout the day, with wind chill at around 10 degrees (-12 degrees Celsius). It is unclear exactly what wind direction we will have on Thursday. If it’s a northwest wind, as one model suggests, we may not have additional snow displays during the day. If more westerly winds develop, as another model suggests, some lake-affected snow bands from Lake Michigan will make it across the state.

Christmas Day will still be windy or windy, with our snow show opportunities again dependent on wind direction, as discussed above. Height in the middle to 20 high (-3 degrees Celsius), with wind chill in the same numbers (-17 to -12 degrees Celsius). Merry Christmas!
