Right elbow injury ruled Jofra Archer out of fourth Test against India at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad while Ben Stokes plays with upset stomach, ECB informed Thursday.

I was a little surprised when England decided to play just three specialist bowlers in the fourth Test, picking up bat Dan Danrence in place of Jofra Archer who had played in the Test during the day but as it turned out Archer had to sit due to injury.

Archer had missed the second Test in Chennai because of the same case.

“Jofra Archer is not playing in this Test match because of his ongoing case at the elbow. The ECB medical team will provide an update in due course,” they read an update from the England cricket board.

“Ben Stokes has had a upset stomach, the only issue that has affected other touring party members. He is not expected to be kept off the field,” he said.

Archer returned to play the third Test in which he picked up a wicket.

Stokes was England’s top scorer with a 55-point fine on the first day of the final Test. The rest of the English batsmen were once again battling it out against Indian spinner Axar Patel, who grabbed four wickets for 68 runs.

Ravichandran Ashwin (3/47) and speeding player Mohammed Siraj (2/45) also did a good job with the ball as India beat England out for 205 after losing the throw. .

India are leading the series 2-1 and just need a lottery to get to the final of the World Test against New Zealand to be held in June.
