Joe Biden visits CDC and celebrates 100 million vaccine doses in 58 days

President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris together visited the headquarters of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Friday during their trip to Atlanta.

The president thanked the staff warmly, telling them ‘And you are the Army, you are the Navy, you are the Marines, you are the Coastguard. I mean it. ‘

‘This is a war and you are the front soldiers,’ he said. Sounds silly. But think about it. ‘

Biden’s visit came on the day his administration hit receiving 100 million views of the COVID-19 vaccine in arms, a goal he set for the first 100 days in his career. The U.S. got the goal on day no. 58.

‘Remember when I said that my goal was to have 100 million views in people’s arms in the first 100 days as president and everyone said … “Oh, yes, right , ”He told CDC staff. ‘Now it’s … “Why didn’t they say more?”‘

The planned trip to Atlanta – which was to pick up the just-passed COVID-19 relief bill – changed in tone after Tuesday’s shooting in the city, when a white man 21-year-down down eight, including six Asian women.

Following the CDC’s visit, Biden and Harris were slated to meet with Asian-American community leaders, as well as the mayor and several other prominent Georgia Democrats.

The president began the day by stumbling and falling on the steps of Air Force One, when he boarded the plane at Andrews Joint Base.

Prior to visiting the CDC in the afternoon, he was a chipper, mocking staff about how only one person was beaten when he walked in.

‘Why did only one person hit?’ he asked, as the doctors gathered – including CDC chief Rochelle Walensky – asked if he or Harris had any questions.

‘Why am I standing?’ he also said, as CDC staff had risen to welcome the president.

He told them that the country owed workers.

‘And we will for a long, long, long, long time,’ said Biden. ‘Because I hope this is the beginning of the end without paying attention to what’s going to come again and again and again. We can build all the walls we want, we can have the most powerful forces in the world, but we cannot stop, we cannot stop these viruses. ‘

Science, Biden said, would do that.
