Jessica McCaskill completed a strong points victory over Cecilia Braekhus in their next round to solidify her status as the undoubted welterweight champion.
The Americans had won by a majority decision to end Braekhus’ long world title rule in their first fight, but McCaskill ended any controversy after the impact of a unanimous broad decision by scores 110-89, 99-90 and 98-91 in Dallas.
A rematch by Katie Taylor, the undisputed lightweight champion, or a clash by Claressa Shields, who holds every world title at pre-welterweight, could now be as part of McCaskill’s future plans.
“If Katie Taylor is the next one, let’s go,” McCaskill said DAZN. “If Claressa wants to come down to 147[lbs] and see if she can do the pressure. As you said, we have a lot of options. “

The New Yorker had made a very aggressive start, injuring Braekhus with powerful right hands in the early rounds.
Braekhus was docked a point in the seventh round for pushing McCaskill ‘s head down in the clinic, a sign of growing fear.
McCaskill penalized Norway with sharp counters to comfortably score the scorecards, despite a desperate attack from Braekhus in the final round.
