LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – When the Santa Cruz Warriors needed a late basket, the team turned to Jeremy Lin and a nine – year – old NBA veteran came through in the cut at the end of the regular season.
Lin scored 13 of his 26 total points in the fourth quarter and extra time to lead the Warriors to a 113-103 victory over the OKC Blue. He fired 9-of-17 from the field, including 2-of-4 from a 3-point field, to finish with the fifth 20-point game of the season.
The Warriors finished with an 11-4 record of the season to get second seed in the NBA G League playoffs, which are set to begin Monday.
Santa Cruz, who scored 29 points at team level from Isaiah Reese, led much of Saturday’s tournament and was looking forward to shutting out Oklahoma City in the fourth quarter. However, the blue rule ended on a 6-0 run to spur extra time.
From there, Lin and Reese took the Warriors home to pull off the victory.
Behind the play of Lin, and several others, including Golden State Warriors qualifiers Jordan Poole and Nico Mannion, Santa Cruz emerged as one of the best teams in the G League this season. Although Poole and Mannion have returned to Golden State since then, the group is ready to continue a strong run into the postseason.
