Reports that it has signed a strategic agreement with the Japanese corporation TDK for a joint investment of NIS 30 million in the development of green ammonia, ie the production of ammonia from hydrogen and water using an energy source without emitting carbon dioxide. This is the first stage of the parties in order to present proof of technological programming for the production process.

According to Gensell, the potential market for green ammonia uses is estimated at about $ 70 billion, as this is the market volume of “ordinary” ammonia, which the development seeks to replace. The company cites work by research firm Argus, according to which the green ammonia market will grow in the coming years to produce about a billion tons per year, reaching a value of about $ 350 billion.

Partner TDK is a prominent manufacturer of lithium-ion batteries used for energy storage. Gencel develops hydrogen-and-ammonia-based fuel cell-based storage solutions, which it supplies for power backup purposes to refurbished sites such as communications towers, industrial plants, homeland security applications and hospitals. The company also has ammonia-producing systems for ammonia-free areas.
