Jamf partners with TRUCE on a location-based machine enforcement program

Apple’s enterprise management company, Jamf, is partnering with TRUCE Software on a new location-based device management program that emphasizes user safety and privacy.

The companies announced the new integrated solution Thursday, noting that the system adds an automated safety suite to Apple devices managed by Jamf Pro.

The program uses the position and movement of employees to dynamically execute an employer’s mobile usage policy. For example, it can customize app customization, notification options, and the availability of other device features. As soon as workers are no longer in a confined state, the Jamf-TRUCE system returns the machines to normal.

Notional examples could include deleting employee messages or browsing an app while on a build site or driving a delivery path.

The aim of the program is to enable employers to implement safety policies while also respecting the privacy of employees. The companies insist that the solution respects privacy for activities such as apps, web browsing, photos or messaging.

In early January 2021, Jamf announced that its platform now runs on more than 20 million Apple devices and is used by 47,000 customers.
