Italian Cup: Spall beat Sesotho 0: 2, game summary

After the dramatic victories of AC Milan and Juventus, the round of 16 in the Italian Cup continued tonight (Thursday) when two more teams can get the ticket to the next round. In the early game, Spall from the second division defeated Sesotho 0: 2 and became the only team in the quarterfinals not to reach Serie A. Going forward: The intriguing game between Atlanta and Cagliari in Bergamo (22:15).

Sassuolo – Spall 2: 0

Just four days ago, Sesuolo lost to Juventus, in a game in which Roberto de Zerbi’s players played great against the old lady, but a numerical lack and bad luck towards the end prevented her from winning. Tonight the script was repeated in its cup game as well, as the Green-Blacks surrendered to Spall, the team from fifth place in Serie B, who will meet the Italian champions in the next round.

No goals were scored in the first half, but the quality differences between the teams stood out in all 45 minutes. Sesotho was worth an advantage at home, but two minutes into the second half the moment that changed the game occurred. Philip Juricic sharply eased Leonardo Sarnicola, and after a quick viewing of VAR received a direct and justifiable red card.

Immediately after the resumption of the game, Sesuolo also took the ball out of the net, after a great personal move by Demba Sack, who cooked for Simona Misiroli at the visitors’ advantage. In the 58th minute Lorenzo Dickman nailed the second with a goal from Gianluca Pegolo and sealed the big surprise of the quarterfinals.
