The upcoming slate of PlayStation Plus games for January was announced just a few days ago, but it now looks like Sony is looking back at the ones that could be one of the buy games before. While it doesn’t look like this offer could extend every title in the lineup, the publisher may be doing so specifically with the PlayStation 5 offering for the month.
According to one report coming from Reddit, a person who bought a free PS5 game in January, Maneater, in November their money is said to have been returned to them. PlayStation reportedly sent a message to this user, “As a PlayStation Plus registrar, we will refund the purchase price of this product to your PlayStation Store wallet as this is a monthly PlayStation Plus game. This will not affect your ability to play the game as we have not removed the game from your library. “So basically, because this person already bought Maneater shortly before the title was announced to go to PS Plus, Sony just chose to give them the funds back.

The only thing that is important to note with this report is that there is no way to specifically prove that what is being confirmed is true. While that user has no reason to lie about the changing situation in this way, they also did not provide any proof that Sony has in fact reimbursed them through a redesign or any other supporting documentation. So if you are in a similar situation and you are wondering why your money has not been refunded either, well, that could be because this situation did not happen to indeed.
Whatever the truth, it doesn’t change the fact that the PlayStation Plus line for January is pretty excellent. While Maneater the only PS5 title on the slate this month, Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Greedfall whether the PS4 games are offered. Even though these games are not yet available for download through the service, they will be live on Tuesday, January 5th.
