Washington, March 13 (IANS) Three International Space Station (ISS) residents take a orbit around their orbital neighborhood in Soyuz MS-17 on March 19, repositioning the spacecraft in preparation to reach new crew members.

Expedition 64 Flight Engineer Kate Rubins of NASA and Commander Sergey Ryzhikov and Sergey Kud-Sverchkov, both of Russia’s Roscosmos Space Agency, emerge from the Earth’s front port of the station’s Rassvet model and the dock again at Poisk dock port facing the space. , NASA said in a blog post Friday.

The move releases the Rassvet port for blacklisting another Soyuz vehicle, named the Soyuz MS-18, which will bring three members of the Expedition 65 crew to the station next month.

Mark Vande Hei of NASA and Oleg Novitsky at Roscosmos and Pyotr Dubrov plan to launch to the station on April 9, from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.

This is the 15th complete transfer of the port of Soyuz and the first since August 2019.

Rubins, Ryzhikov and Kud-Sverchkov will return to Earth on April 17 in the Soyuz MS-17 that took them to the space station in October 2020.
