Israir’s rescue: A 70-year-old woman was flown to Israel because she needed immediate treatment

Israir carried out a complex medical rescue flight from Belgrade, in cooperation with Madassis and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. An ATR plane from Belgrade, carrying a 70-year-old patient, landed at Ben Gurion Airport. This, after undergoing a full licensing process and dedicated training of the staff.

The flight request was received from Medassis, which contacted Israir, and last night the plane left for snowy Belgrade, with two medical personnel on board in addition to the air crew. During the Corona crisis, Israir, which chose to continue flying throughout the period, converted its aircraft so that they could perform medical flights.

“This is a unique and impressive achievement on every scale. The infrastructure on the plane includes an insulated reclining bed with full access to medical staff for continuous care and keeping the patient immobile. The stretcher kit is an existing product on other aircraft, but in this case unique to the ATR aircraft,” Israir’s ATR aircraft, Omar Beck.

According to Moshe Grossberg, CEO of Madasis, this is a 70-year-old infertile patient with Israeli citizenship, who arrived at a hospital in Belgrade in critical condition. Suffers from a spinal tumor and should be brought to Israel soon. In cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and after examining the case with a doctor on our behalf, we turned to Israir to perform the complex flight to Israel. “

Meanwhile, El Al announced that at the end of the current closure and return to the layout of the “green islands” in Eilat and the Dead Sea, it intends to operate, subject to obtaining the required approval, domestic flights to Eilat. If El-Al does start operating flights on the line to Ramon Airport, competition on the line is expected to increase. Israir Airlines, which was the only one to fly there continuously since the beginning of the Corona and Arkia crisis, is currently flying to Ramon.
