Israel’s worldwide campaign to vaccinate its citizens is beginning to re-enter the disease, according to the country’s second largest health network.

Maccabi Health Services surveyed a sample group of 50,777 people over 60 who were admitted in late December and then again in mid-January. Raw data showed that, two days after the second sight, the number of new infections and hospitalizations was down about 60% from the peak, researchers said.

Trends began to move around two weeks from the first dose, according to the analysis conducted by the KSM Maccabi Research and Innovation Center in collaboration with Israeli KI Institute computer health researchers.

To date around 2.5 million people, or more than a quarter of the population, have received their first dose, with almost a million more receiving a second. Children under the age of 16, who have not been agreed to be vaccinated, make up about 30% of the country’s 9.3 million people.

The country is currently in the midst of a third lockout that began in late December to control the resurgence of the revolution. In all, Israel has had nearly 600,000 cases and more than 4,360 deaths.
