‘The only concern was graduating’

Rayyan, a high school senior, is from the Qarawat village of Bani Hassan, west of Salfit in the north-owned West Bank.

His mother Mahera told the local Palestine news agency Ma’an that her son’s only concern was graduating from school.

“On Thursday, he was scheduled to meet his friends after he finished the final exam of the semester,” she said, tears running down her face.

Rayyan woke up Tuesday and went to school to get tested, his mother said. He returned home, had breakfast and went to Nablus to help his father at work as he occasionally does. But he didn’t make the city.
