The Israeli power minister said Tuesday that it would take Iran about six months to extract fine enough material for a single nuclear weapon, a timeline almost twice as long as a senior member of the Biden administration expected.
Israel is monitoring the Biden administration’s intention to reinstate Iran’s 2015 nuclear deal and has long opposed the agreement. Washington argues that the previous Trump administration pulled out of the treaty by urging Iran to abandon captaincy on nuclear activity.

Speaking on the eve of the month before he took over as US secretary of state, Antony Blinken said the so-called “breakout time” – in which Iran could ramp up uranium enrichment to bomb fuel purity – “has been go from more than a year (under the agreement) to about three or four months “. He said he based his views on information in a public statement.
But Energy Minister Yuval Steinitz said in a radio interview that the Trump administration had “severely damaged Iran’s nuclear project and built the entire force”.

“In terms of enrichment, they (Iranians) are in a position to break out in about half a year if they do all that is required,” he told public broadcaster Kan “In terms of nuclear weapons, the range is about a year or two.”
Iran, which denies seeking nuclear weapons, has accelerated the breach of the deal, which began to oppose the 2019 response to the U.S. withdrawal and reinstatement of control -bonds against it.

The latest quarterly estimates by the DA’s nuclear watchdog in November show that Iran’s uranium-rich stock had risen by 2.4 tonnes, more than 10 times what was allowed under the contract but still a fraction of more than eight a ton he had before.
Since then Iran has started enriching uranium to higher purity, returning to the 20% it achieved before the deal from a previous high of 4.5%. The agreement sets a limit of 3.67%, well below the military-level 90%.
