Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai succeeded in baptizing fire into Israeli national politics on Tuesday when he announced his new party, called the Israelis, along with his new partner Avi Nissenkorn.
who wiped out both his former Blue & White party and Justice Minister Avi Nissenkorn. It has not yet been determined whether the former justice minister will be an asset or an embuggerance.

Earlier in the afternoon, Defense Minister Benny Gantz announced his continued leadership of Blue & White in an honest but also very sad press conference. His party cannot be saved.
With less than three months to the March 23 elections, Israel’s political center – including center-right and center-left – has yet to create a real alternative to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
There are three strong parties on the right in the run: Likud Netanyahu, New Hope at Gideon Sa’ar and Yamina at Naftali Bennett. Also in the mix are the satellite ultra-orthodox parties of United England and United Torah.
But the center and center left are still knocked down and divided.
Israel’s political center was always overrun with parties. They are always for the rule of law and against corruption, for the strengthening of the democracy which they say is always in jeopardy. They always show new hope for the public and for unity, and are always in a non-pro market while maintaining strong social services.
But do they have a plan to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict or rework the status quo with the Haredi when it comes to religion and state or military service? No.
On Tuesday we watched the man standing at the head of the largest party and the largest Knesset block sink while another ran ahead to give him the middle spot.

It is unclear how Huldai’s ideology differs from that of Gantz or even Meretz’s left-wing party.
No matter how hard you try, you will not find a nuance, certainly none that justifies separation within the camp that could endanger survival.
The problem with the political center is that no one has been able to fill the shoes of the assassinated prime minister Yitzhak Rabin.
This deceptive dash to find a political home between Likud and Meretz is the best thing that will ever happen on the right, which the polls show is only getting stronger.
In about 80 days, Israel could become the first country in the world to announce victory in its battle against coronavirus pandemic.
Netanyahu is better able to turn this into votes and the identification of an anti-Netanyahu camp is premature.

What the political center also needs is heroism. All the leaders will say that there is a problem with the Israeli justice system behind closed doors, but openly, they will all try out the same mantra of “ensuring the stability of the rule of law” and “helping democracy. ”
They know that no one on the Palestinian side is waiting for Israel to return to the arbitration table, but again, none of their eggs want to say it.
They know that any change in the face requires deep and profound praise, but they are too weak to take the risk.
The political center no longer needs a slogan. It must give Israel a true Jewish democratic choice in addition to what the right wing is pushing, namely kowtowing to the ultra-Orthodox and leading the country down the path to a binational state.
They have less than three months to do it. Hopefully they can pull it off.
