A British university professor may have committed a heinous crime by naming Jewish students “Israeli pawns” at a speech, a police spokesman said.
Avon and Somerset Police made the statement on Thursday – an unusual case of police activity on issues that many Britons say fall under academic freedom.
In February. 13 video conferencing titled “Labour’s Free Speech Campaign,” Bristol University sociologist David Miller confirmed “the end of Zionism as an ideology of action.” He also called for complaints from the university’s Jewish Association, a union of Jewish students, about his decisions against and Israel’s assertion that “there is a real question of abuse here – of Jewish students British habitats to be used as political pagans by violence, “racism, foreign rule involved in racial cleansing.” He declared the support of the Jewish Society for Zionism.
In 2019, Miller suggested that the British people use interfaith events with Muslims, including cooking chicken soup, to increase acceptance of Zionism among Muslims.
His remarks in February sparked calls by many British judges to remove Miller.
Around 200 academics from the United Kingdom and the United States, including linguist Noam Chomsky and gender theorist Judith Butler, signed a petition defending Miller as a “distinguished scholar.”
On Thursday, the University of Warwick’s official Twitter account enjoyed a tweet defending Miller. A spokesman said it was a matter of “unauthorized access. “
