More than five decades after humans were sent to the moon, the closest celestial body to Earth, the original plan remains: to go to Mars. It is something that many astronauts who have gone into space think should already be accomplished.
In December 2019, the first African American woman in space, Mae Jemison, told university students at the Kennedy Space Center for a Center she had just accepted, before she got “old enough to go into the space program, you know we ‘re living on Mars, “or she would work on the Red Planet just as a scientist.

Billionaire business owners like Elon Musk, for one, as well as wanting young astronauts include Alyssa Carson for one, a Florida Tech sophomore who is studying at Florida Tech, hopes to stay on Mars one day.

The problem

High cost

However, this is not the first time a national leader has said that humans are orbiting the moon or finally sending some to Mars.
After John F. Kennedy ‘s first confirmation of a man on the moon, several other presidents have tried to follow in his footsteps.
However, unlike Kennedy, none came close to success. On the 20th anniversary of Apollo 11 in 1989, President George HW Bush announced that humans would orbit the moon, and then move on to Mars. However, in the end, the cost proved to be quite high.
His son, then President George W. Bush, pursued a similar goal. Under the Constellation program, the plan was to go back to the moon by 2020 and eventually move to Mars. However, the project was finally completed after a series of cancellations and ever-increasing costs.
Former President Barack Obama hoped to go to Mars as well. Instead of proposing to go back to the moon, however, he said astronauts should be sent to an asteroid by 2025 before heading to Mars. Exactly the same, the proposal was rejected by the Congressional Republicans, and none of the comments came to fruition.
