Is Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.2 still coming out in February?

As ever, there has been largely radio silence about the state of Cyberpunk 2077, although this time around, with added difficulty.

CDPR certainly managed to release the promised 1.1 piece for Cyberpunk in January, but with a week left in February, the much larger 1.2 piece was not previewed or released. , even more substantially, when it was due to arrive this month. .

The problem, of course, is the recent sprawling hack of CDPR that piloted everything from employee data to Cyberpunk source code, The Witcher 3 and Gwent. There are controversial reports as to whether or not the code has been sold, and it is reported that CDPR is trying to use takedowns to prevent anyone from doing anything meaningful with it.

This makes it likely that the 1.2 piece could be delayed if the hack has caused too much trouble as a CDPR. By permission, teams that run down hackers and those who would buy stolen information from them may be different than those that run down bugs and wisdom in Cyberpunk, but it is logical that there could be some overlap if the chaos caused by the widespread hack is too damaging. For example, it looked as if the hackers were roaming CDPR servers, which they had to retrieve from backup. Who knows if any jobs were lost there.

Cyberpunk is still desperately in need of a major piece, something that hasn’t been there since it was released in December. There have been a number of hotfixes on a smaller scale, and even the original 1.1 bad felt like a bigger hotfix rather than anything transformative. Sony has yet to allow Cyberpunk 2077 to sell on the PS Store digitally after it was canceled shortly after its launch due to technical problems and constant refund requests. That’s the version of the game for both PS4 and PS5, and Cyberpunk tokens were actively sold in January because well, it wasn’t for sale on the digital store of the world’s largest gaming platform.

It’s unclear what it will take to get Sony to think the game is “ready” enough to resell it, but CDPR burned that bridge when they asked people to chase Sony for a refund when Sony didn’t have a digital return policy at all (they had to make one just for Cyberpunk).

Cyberpunk is still full of bugs and performance issues, and long-term problems such as traffic and police AI are unlikely to be located in even the most likely future big bad. And no one expects the promised free DLC for the game, whatever that may be, until late spring or early summer at this point. The official Cyberpunk account has not tweeted since February 5 when it released a hotfix to track an issue detected by unsafe mods.

CDPR slipped in under the wire with the last piece in January, so it’s possible they’ll do the same this week. But the hack is making things complicated and the long-term fixes for Cyberpunk seem to include a next-gen update on consoles as an eternity away.
