Iraq reports 5,062 new COVID-19 cases, 827,157 in total

(MENAFN – Trend News Group) The Iraqi Ministry of Health on Saturday reported 5,062 new coronavirus cases, raising the total number of infections nationwide to 827,157, Trend reports citing Xinhua.

The new cases included 2,199 in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, 654 in Basra, 341 in Najaf, 322 in Duhok, and 268 in Maysan, while the cases left to be found in other areas, the ministry said in a statement.

The ministry also announced 20 new deaths, raising the death toll from the infectious virus to 14,177, and recoveries in Iraq rose 4,368 to 741,115.

A total of 7,871,105 tests were performed nationwide since the outbreak began in February 2020, and 35,661 were performed during the day, according to the report.
