Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif urged U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday not to be “locked in” with Israel’s alleged plan to incite war through attacks on U.S. forces in Iraq.
He issued the warning on the anniversary of the assassination of U.S. prime minister Qassem Soleimani by drone strike in Iraq. Israel did not immediately comment.

Washington blames Iranian-backed militia for repeated rocket attacks on U.S. facilities in Iraq, including near the U.S. embassy. Recognized Iranian-backed organizations have not claimed responsibility.
“New information from Iraq and (s) that Israeli activists are planning attacks against America, putting Trump out of touch with a false casus belli (war justification action),” Zarif said in tweet.
“Be careful about traps, @realDonaldTrump. Any firework goes back badly,” Zarif wrote.

Esmail Ghaani, who succeeded Soleimani as leader of the Quds elite force, said on Friday that Iran was still ready to respond.
The U.S. military fired two nuclear-capable B-52 bombers into the Middle East in a blocking message to Iran on Wednesday, but the bombers have left the area.
