Iran on the agenda: The cabinet will convene on Wednesday

The Political-Security Cabinet will convene this coming Wednesday, for the first time since the Biden administration entered. It is estimated that the discussion will deal with the enrichment of Iran’s uranium and the possibility that the United States will return unconditionally to the nuclear agreement.

NBC News reported that Blinken warned that Tehran may be very close to producing enough fissile material for nuclear weapons. He said it could be “a matter of a few weeks” if Iran decides to continue removing restrictions imposed on it under the nuclear deal.

The remarks come in the wake of Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif’s remarks yesterday that his country would not agree to any change in the terms of the nuclear deal. “This is an international document approved by the United Nations Security Council in a special resolution, it is non-negotiable and the parties involved are clear and unchangeable,” Zarif’s spokesman Said Khatibzadada clarified.
It should be noted that last week Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi addressed a conference of the Institute for National Security Studies, in which he said: “I instructed the IDF to prepare new operational plans for the treatment of Iran.” Things caused a stir. The office of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani issued a response to the chief of staff’s remarks, claiming that these were “worthless threats.”
