IPhone, iPad users report crashes with third-party apps after syncing with M1-Powered Mac1-powered laptops

IPhone and iPad users have reported crash issues with third-party apps after syncing with M1-powered MacBook models. Reportedly, the third-party apps crashed immediately after launch, making them completely impossible. However, pre-installed apps seem to run well. Consumer reports started coming in about a month after the M1-powered MacBook laptops were released and the problem still seems to be there. It seems that Apple has not yet found a solution to the issue or even admitted it.

As user reports support Apple, Reddit, and other forums reveal that iPhone and iPad models seem to be experiencing third-party app crashes after disabling their device configuration with M1-powered MacBook models. According to a video shared by a user on Reddit recorded on iPhone X, third-party apps like YouTube, Instagram, WhatsApp, and others were likely to crash immediately after being turned on opening them, making them completely impossible. However, apps like Safari, Apple Music, and Messaging worked well.

On the original forum post, users also pointed out that it is not possible to install or update apps from the App Store as the progress cycle fills up and then returns to the ‘cloud’ download icon. Resetting the devices, updating the iPhone, or resetting the iPhone / iPad OS seems to solve the issue.

One of the workflow users discovered, suggesting that connecting to an older MacBook running Calatina OS solves the problem. This user had a 2012 MacBook Pro running Calatina.

Apple doesn’t seem to have recognized the issue as of now, that could mean the problem isn’t as widespread. For now, there seems to be no solution to this issue so it makes sense that people who use M1-powered MacBook models will not sync their iPad or iPhone models, until Apple works out something.
