South Korea’s Tae Hoon Kim was definitely on the move when he made his PGA Tour debut in the first round of the Genesis Invitational on Thursday.
The 35-year-old made a hole-in-one at the 16th hole at Riviera Country Club that won him the 2021 Genesis G80 car bonus award.
Surprisingly this is the third Genesis vehicle Kim has won in just over four months.
He said he was invited to the tournament by winning the Genesis Tournament on the Korean Tour in October, the prize in the first place including Genesis GV80.
That impact also helped the four-time Tour Korea winner surpass the Korea Tour 2020 eligibility order given to him by Genesis GV70.
“I gave my parents the first two cars but I’m still not sure what to do with this latest one,” Kim said.

Kim, who started the 10th hole on Thursday, had already made an eagle when he reached the 16th hole after getting out of a green bunker at the 11th par-five.
He then marked it in style on the 168-yard par-three while stroking the tee boot with a seven-iron for an ace.
“I didn’t see the ball go in the hole but then I noticed some people up at the green marking and I realized it went in. That was a very special thing to happen in the first event. I have a PGA Tour, “he said.
Kim eventually recorded two under-69s with his first round also exciting including the second with three birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey.
