Inter Milan draw clearly in Serie A as the city ‘s rivals dwindle

Inter Milan moved nine points clear at the top of Serie A after a 2-1 win at Turin and AC Milan lost second place 1-0 at home to Napoli.

Inter Antonio Conte recorded their eighth consecutive win in the league thanks to leader Lautaro Martinez with five minutes left.

That was after Romelu Lukaku’s 62-minute penalty for sending off the visitors eight minutes later by Antonio Sanabria.

AC Milan were then convicted of winning at the San Siro with a Matteo Politano attempt four minutes into the second half as Napoli moved up to fifth in the table. The Rossoneri fired substitute Ante Rebic at stoppage time.

Dijon lost at the bottom of the cliff 3-1 at home to Bordeaux, from which Hwang Ui-jo filled a brace and Nicolas De Preville also scored. Moussa Kounate recorded a late console for Dijon.

Lens and Metz, in sixth and seventh respectively, battled a 2-2 draw at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis. In the first half Jonathan Clauss saw Lens take the lead, Vagner equalized with a penalty and Yannick Cahuzac restored the guests’ advantage before Metz knocked down again just before the hour mark through Thomas Delaine.

Rennes recorded their first win under Bruno Genesio as they beat Strasbourg 1-0 at home thanks to a Benjamin Bourigeaud goal in the first half.

In the Bundesliga, RB Leipzig is in second place four points behind leaders Bayern Munich after being held to a 1-1 draw at home by Eintracht Frankfurt.

Emil Forsberg ‘s finish in the opening hours of the second half was halted by Daichi Kamada in the 61st minute when Julian Nagelsmann’ s team dropped points for the first time in seven games.

Arminia Bielefeld moved out of the relegation places, up from 17th to 15th, with a 2-1 victory at Bayer Leverkusen, their first victory under Frank Kramer.

Ritsu Doan and Masaya Okugawa conceded two goals up before Patrik Schick pulled one goal in the 85th minute.

Stuttgart beat Hoffenheim 2-0 at home with permission from Kasim Adams’ own goal and Sasa Kalajdzic’s effort.

In LaLiga, fourth – placed Sevilla won a 1-0 derby win over Real Betis at home, with Youssef En-Nesyri scoring for 27th minute.

That gave Julen Lopetegui ‘s side six points out of fifth-placed Real Sociedad, who lost 1-0 at Granada, with the German getting a net in the 51st minute.

Villarreal won 3-1 at Eibar. Moi Gomez and Carlos Bacca stopped for the Yellow Submarine in the first half before Sergi Enrich responded early in the second. Villarreal then put Etienne Capoue away in the 80th minute, before Alfonso Pedraza put up the win.

Elsewhere, Celta Vigo ‘s stint with Athletic Bilbao ended in a goalless draw.
