Intel unveils the 11th generation family of desktop Rocket Lake processors

11th Generation Rocket Lake Processors (Intel Source)

Intel announced today (Tuesday, 16.3) the family of processorRocket Lake The company’s 11th generation desktop, which includes no less than 19 processors from the Core i5 to Core i9 series, including theCore i9-11900K The company’s most powerful, which comes with 8 cores and 16 threads at speeds of up to 5.3GHz. In addition to them it also introduced the processorsComet Lake Refresh For the low market, with 11 processors from the Core i3 and Pentium Gold series.

Intel’s 11th generation new Rocket Lake processors replace the tenth generation Comet Lake processors it introduced in 2020, joining the 11th generation Tiger Lake U and Tiger Lake H35 processors. The new Rocket Lake processors are based on the Cypress Cove’s architecture in the company’s older 14nm production, rather than the newer 10nm SuperFin, and manage to show a 19% IPC (performance per clock) performance improvement over the previous generation.

Intel’s new processor series was developed under the leadership of development groups from Intel Israel, and it presents a large variety of improvements over the previous generation, including the built-in UHD 750 and UHD 730 graphics chips, which come with 32 and 24 EU processing units. ) And show an improvement of up to 50% compared to the previous generation.

The processors will come with up to 20 PCIe 4.0 channels, for the first time for the company, DDR4-3200 memory support and support for Deep Learning Boost and VNNI technologies to improve artificial intelligence performance in processors. In addition, the processors come with new features in the field of acceleration (overclocking) in order to allow users to “squeeze” the most performance from their hardware.

Intel’s new Rocket Lake processors manage to present a rather poor picture of the performance of the processors compared to the previous generation and AMD’s Ryzen processors. Although the Core i9-11900K processor has only 8 cores, 2 cores less than the previous Core i9-10900K, it manages to show a gaming performance improvement of up to 14% and an even greater productivity improvement of up to 88% compared to the previous generation.

The Core i9-11900K processor also manages to show an improvement over AMD’s Ryzen 9 5900X processor, which comes with 12 cores and 24 threads, 4 cores more than the Core i9, while according to Intel’s tests it shows a gaming performance improvement of Up to 11% and productivity improvement of up to 35%. All this, in addition to the improved overclocking capabilities of the new processors, which offer new advanced speed capabilities for memory in addition to the company’s existing speed options from previous editions.

Sharon Almoznino, Who led the development of Rocket Lake processors at Intel, said:

The Rocket Lake series flagship processor is the most powerful gaming processor Intel has ever launched, as well as its competitors, and features excellent performance that places it as a leader in the global gaming market. Compared to Intel’s previous flagship processor, the Core i9-10900K, it achieves a double – digit improvement in the performance it provides in running computer games such as Microsoft Flight Simulator and Total War Three Kingdoms.

I am very proud of our employees in Israel that despite the challenges of the period and the severe Corona limitations that forced hundreds of them to work from home, they managed in just two years from the moment of its development to launch the new processor that becomes a leader in the gaming market. The teams in the country worked on the CPU, Core, and SoC (architecture) cores, and developed an excellent processor that takes the lead over AMD’s flagship processor in most of the metrics tested.
