Intel announces doubling chip production capability in the 14 nm and 10 nm ranges

Intel has officially announced that it has doubled the company’s chip manufacturing capacity in the 14nm and 10nm range compared to previous years, in order to meet the growing demand of the company’s customers for chips, as it will continue to invest in upgrading its manufacturing capabilities.

Intel’s 14nm manufacturing issues began in 2018 and reached a state defined as a production crisis due to delays in switching to 10nm production and the growing demand for 14nm chips, leading to Intel announcing a $ 1 billion investment in the company’s manufacturing plants in Oregon and Arizona in the US, Ireland. And Israel to double the company’s current Wafer production capacity compared to 2017.

Intel’s new and official announcement comes to allay new rumors about the company’s 14 nm and 10 nm manufacturing issues, with the company’s latest manufacturing process, the 10 nm SuperFin, delivering its biggest performance leap in the transition between different production generations.

While Intel notes that it has managed to double the production capacity of 14nm and 10nm chips, the company is considering doubling its overall production without separating the two production technologies. Given that Intel’s next Rocket Lake processors will be based on the 14nm production core instead of 10nm, it can be assumed that while the company’s production capacity has doubled, the largest share still belongs to the older 14nm technology.
